About Us

OUR MISSION

The Mission of the Phoenyx Farm & Sanctuary is to rescue unwanted or neglected equine and provide them with a safe and secure refuge. We provide every animal that comes to us with proper medical care, an individualized nutrition plan and daily handling. Our goals are to give our residents a second chance for a healthy and productive life, provide hospice care when necessary and educate our community about proper care through our numerous outreach programs. For many of our animals, The Phoenyx Farm and Sanctuary will be their “Forever Home.”

OUR COMMITMENT

With every rescue we make, full commitment is made to find the animal their forever home, whether that be here with us or with a new loving family.  Some, who are terminally ill are provided with hospice care  and  remain with us for the rest of their days. Others, such as Nova and Ryan, make a full recovery and are adopted out to loving families in their new forever homes.

During their time at our sanctuary, all horses are given appropriate shelter,  food that is tailored to fit their specific medical needs, vet and dental care and more!  They are provided ample turnout depending on their specific needs.  Forage is never limited unless we are treating specific conditions.  Horses receive regular exercise consistent with their health status, age and ability.

Our organization continually provides different types of activity to help the horses heal and become active, while gauging how bright their future may be.  Horses do their best when they are doing what they love!

The mental well-being of our animals is another strong focus of ours.  We address any fears and/or anxiety that we become aware of and work to make them sound both physically and mentally.

Sanctuary Programs

Medical Retirement

Every animal deserves to ride off into the sunset. Animals enter our Medical Retirement program when it is determined they are no longer fit to have a job, be ridden or be worked in any regular way.

These animals, once in full health are great companion horses. They're comfortable, relaxed and have an excellent temperament.

Hospice

In the unfortunate event that an animal is determined to have a reduced lifespan, they enter our hospice program. The goal of this program is to provide the same level of care given in our Medical Retirement program, with the additional focus of remaining pain free for as long as possible.

When the time comes for us to let go, we consult with our staff, care givers and medical team for consensus on what is best for the animal.

Surrenders/Rescues

Rescues

For many animals, being rescued is their last chance at life. This is what we do! One of our goals is to never have to turn an animal in need away because of lack of space or funding. The rescue/rehabilitation process is difficult and expensive. It is a labor of love.

Surrenders

When an animal is no longer wanted or can no longer be cared for, we prefer if they're surrendered as soon as possible. This avoids the health problems and costs associated with rescuing animals later in the process.

A surrendered animal is healthier and costs us less to rehabilitate. Our goal for all animals that come to us is for them to find their "Forever Home" whether that be with us or another loving family.

Animals surrendered early, when they can no longer be cared for by their owners, have the highest chance of achieving that goal.  They have more options and are more desirable to more families.
